This is after the story of Lydiah Achieng was aired on a local television station claiming she was innocent of defilement charges.

Achieng, who is currently serving her sentence at Lang’ata Women Prison, narrated her story claiming she did not defile her neighbor’s son.

Speaking to Innoro TV, Achieng said she was arrested in 2010 over allegations that she had sexually assaulted her neighbor’s class Eight son.

DPP Haji in a Twitter post ordered for immediate investigations into her case despite the fact that she was convicted during the old constitution.

“Attached media clip has been brought to the attention of the DPP. Despite the fact that convict was charged during the era of Police Prosecutors and before the 2010 Constitution, the DPP has directed that an immediate follow be done. Cc @inoorotvNews,” the DPP said in a tweet.

Speaking to Innoro TV, Achieng said that at that time, she was living with an orphaned young girl she was helping to educate.

Achieng said she fell out with her neighbor after the orphaned girl got into a relationship with the neighbor’s son.

The woman then filed a case against her claiming that she had defiled his son.

At some point, the woman had sought to withdraw the matter against Achieng but the court refused the application, demanding to get word from the Attorney General.

Achieng had tried to appeal but her applications were turned down by the court.
