The Kathiani MP said Kalonzo did nothing wrong for asking to be Uhuru’s errands boy.

He said the former Vice President should not be "roasted" for making the remarks.

Mbui said the Wiper leader was within his political rights to make the remarks.

“It is unfair for people to criticize Kalonzo for speaking his mind out,” Mbui said.

He addressed the press in his constituency on Tuesday.

Mbui asked politicians to give Kalonzo time to mourn his father instead of criticizing him.

He claimed that some politicians are not genuine in their criticism and want to mudslide the former Vice President.

Mbui, however, said the party will meet at the right time to deliberate on key issues as 2022 succession politics take shape.

A section of Kamba politicians among them former Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama has criticized Kalonzo over his "mtu wa mkono" remarks.

Muthama wants Kalonzo to come clear on what he meant and give his supporters a direction.

Makueni governor professor Kivutha Kibwana has also raised concerns over the remarks, saying it could demean the Kamba community if President Kenyatta considers Kalonzo’s request.

Kibwana argues that a leader of Kalonzo’s caliber does not deserve to be an errands boy.

During the burial of his father in Tseikuru on Friday last week, Kalonzo said he is ready to be President Kenyatta’s "mtu wa mkono".

The former Vice President said he will not allow anyone to come between his relationship with President Kenyatta.
