A nominated Jubilee senator has said that Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i promotion in government has not scared Kenyans including politicians eyeing presidency in 2022.
Millicent Omanga argued that the promotion came at the right time when President Uhuru Kenyatta is focused to deliver to Kenyans.
"There is no need for Kenyans more especially politicians aspiring to be president in 2022 to be scared about Matiang'i's promotion. Uhuru had to promote him so that he can pressure other cabinet secretaries to work towards the realization of the Big 4 Agenda," she said.
She dismissed claims that Matiang'i's promotion is a blow to DP Ruto's presidential bid saying Uhuru had to pick Matiang'i since he has proved to a hard working civil servant.
"Matiang'i has been multitasking and we have all been seeing that. He was promoted so that he can push others to work. Politics should not take the center stage over his promotion," she noted.
However, according to her, Matiang'i will make a good president when the right time comes.
"We can't rush pushing Uhuru to endorse Matiang'i for Presidency but, when the right time comes Matiang'i should be ready to go for the top seat," said Ms Omanga.
