The song "Pigwa Shoka" by Sheddy Empire was released on Friday causing a public uproar.
Angry Kenyans asked the Kenya Film and Classification Board CEO Ezekiel Mutua to take action against the artists for promoting femicide.
The artist has, however, taken a bold step to apologise to the public, especially the late Ivy Wangeci's family. They claimed it was simply artistic creativity that made him do the song, however, the public took it out of context.
"We are here to apologize to the family of Ivy because of our song “pigwa shoka”…we never meant to hurt anyone, either his family or friends; we don’t support anyone to be killed. We also have sisters and mothers and we wouldn’t wish them to be killed…we know everyone is affected by the song, both his family and classmates at Moi University, we are very sorry for that” said one of the artist," they said in their apology.
On Sunday, KFCB confirmed receiving numerous complaints about the song.
"Kenyans have come out in numbers and petitioned both KFCB and @youtubemusic to take action on a song released on Friday dubbed Pigwa Shoka," KFCB tweeted at the time.
