Uasin Gishu County now has a new County commissioner, Abdirisack Jaldesa.
Outgoing County Commissioner, Abdi Hassan was transferred to Kisumu County. Before he was transferred to Uasin Gishu, Jaldesa served as the Kakamega County Commissioner.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret town on Tuesday, Jaldesa promised to ensure that insecurity which has become rampant in Eldoret town and its environs will be dealt with.
"As the chairman of the security committee in the county, I will enhance security in Eldoret town and its environs and ensure residents stay in peace and without any interference," said the new Uasin Gishu County Commissioner.
There have been increased cases of insecurity in Eldoret town where several vehicles have been stolen while burglary cases have reportedly increased in the outskirts of Eldoret town.
"We will deploy more officers to enhance patrol to insecurity prone areas and ensure that gangsters terrorizing wananchi are brought to book," Jaldesa added.
He further put on notice bars selling alcohol near schools saying they will have to shut them down.
"All bars operating near schools will be closed down to ensure students have a conducive environment of learning," he said.
