Kinuthia terms the report a 'TangaTanga sanitization programme'.

Kinuthia, argues that the report released by Mzalendo Trust, a parliamentary monitoring organisation that has been releasing a scorecard highlighting the performance of MPs since 2014, was a paid "to make the otherwise empty rhetorics supporting William Samoei Ruto look good".

"Even if you dropped out of school in class 2, it is crystal clear that it is a TangaTanga sanitization program, paid for, sponsored and pushed down-the-throats, to make the otherwise empty rhetorics supporting William Samoei Ruto look good. And those supporting Hon Gideon K. Moi , himself included, those supporting Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta, look moribund," Kinuthia wrote on his Facebook page, Sunday.

The analyst who has been critical of DP Ruto's 2022 presidential bid, adds that it is 'laughable' that some MPs (Senators and MPs) appear on the report as 'best performers'.

"How you substitute Mutula Kilonzo Jr for egoistic Sakaja Johnson or leave out James Orengo for Wakili Samson Cherargei Kiprotich is, if not comical, most bizarre. Just for an example. This cocoon is running out of idea, seeing that even in my home county of the Fort Hall, the one ranked as the best is an open eyesore," he writes.

According to the Mzalendo Trust survey that focuses on the period between September 2017 and December 2018, the best performers were Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu), Joseph Limo (Kipkelion East), Robert Pukose (Endebess), David Gikaria (Nakuru Town East) among others who are widely associated with the amorphous 'Team Tangatanga'.

Others include Senators Johnson Sakaja (Nairobi), Samson Cherargei (Nandi), Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho);  Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, Naisula Lesuuda (Samburu West), Catherine Waruguru (Laikipia), Martha Wangari (Gilgil) and Fatuma Gedi (Wajir) who have been rated as the best performing young MPs.
