Khalwale said that the merge of the two firms will give KQ an added advantage over other airlines.

The vocal politician noted that airlines such as Qatar, Rwandese and Emirates are doing very well because they were merged at some point in their operation life.

He also argued that the merger could make it more efficient as far as service delivery is concerned.

“Urgently merge operations of KQ with JKIA. Ethiopia, Qatar, Emirates, Turkish and Rwandese Airlines are financially stable and are a threat to the survival of Kenya Airways. All have one thing in common, i.e, they have merged their operations with those of their national airports,“ he tweeted on Wednesday.

The remarks come after MPs embarked on the investigations to determine circumstances behind the takeover of JKIA by Kenya Airways.

KQ was in the process of managing the operations of the facility for a period of 30 years before the lawmakers rejected the plans following uproar from the public.

While addressing different stakeholders, Committee chairman Abdullswamad Nassir, said that the MPs are determined to ensure all public resources are protected from looters.
