Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has asked his Garissa counterpart Aden Duale to stop misleading Kenyans on the referendum.
Mohamed claims that Duale is lying to Kenyans by claiming that the referendum was not part of the March 9 handshake deal between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
According to the Suna East MP, the referendum was number one agenda in the unity deal or handshake between Uhuru and Raila.
“Duale does not know the contents of the March 9 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and honorable Raila Odinga and should keep quiet,” he said.
The ODM MP, who spoke in Migori on Thursday, said that they will push for a referendum through a popular initiative.
“There is no point of retaining a constitution that has some sections that are not working,” Junet said.
Duale has maintained that a referendum was not part of the March 9 handshake.
The Jubilee MP has accused Raila of allegedly using the referendum to bargain for his 2022 presidential bid.
The vocal leader of Majority in the National Assembly also accuses Raila of allegedly plotting to have DP President William Ruto locked out of the 2022 presidential election.
On Thursday, Raila said that referendum push is unstoppable urging Kenyans to prepare for it.
He claimed that the Building Bridges committee will soon start collecting views from Kenyans on the referendum.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, and Ford-Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula are among top politicians opposing Raila’s referendum push.
