Mzee Paul Teigut, father to Deputy President William Ruto's Personal Assistant Farouk Kibet was on Friday laid to rest at his rural home in Tapsagoi ward, Turbo Sub County.
DP Ruto alongside a host of Jubilee leaders and hundreds of mourners attended the burial ceremony.
On Thursday, Eldoret town was brought to a standstill when the remains of Mzee Teigut were being transported from the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary in a convoy of over 50 vehicles.
After attending the burial DP Ruto tweeted, "Mzee Paul Kibet Teigut was a charismatic elder, who played a prominent role in peacebuilding and advocated harmonious relationships among communities. He was a pillar of strength, love and unity for his family. May his soul Rest In Peace."
The burial was held at Chepsaita village, Turbo constituency in Uasin Gishu County. Leaders expressed their condolences to family, friends and Kenya at large.
Kenyans also condoled with the family while replying to the DPs tweet.
"May the soul of Mzee Teigut rest in peace, my condolence to the family of Faruk, the friends and the entire community of Ngenyilel ward Turbo constituency," Geff Karotwo said replying to Ruto's post.
