Five people have sustained injuries in a road accident along Mombasa Road in Athi River, Machakos County.

The victims got injured after the mini-bus belonging to Sema Sacco they were travelling in engaged in a self-involved accident at Primarosa area on Friday morning.

There were no reported cases of casualties.

Athi River police boss Sharma Wario said the victims sustained slight injuries in the 6.00am incident.

“It happened that the said vehicle was being driven from Mombasa general direction heading towards Nairobi and upon reaching the location of the accident, its driver was obstructed by an oncoming unknown motor vehicle which was overtaking a fleet of motor vehicles. He tried to avoid a head-on collision by swerving to the left and in the process lost control and the vehicle overturned,” said Wario.

He addressed the press in his office on Friday.

Wario said the matter was reported at Kyumbi police station.

He said the wreckage was towed to the same station while the victims were admitted to Shalom Community Hospital in Athi River town.
