A 17-year-old Form Four leaver in Moi Ndabi, Naivasha, made a rogue police officer crazy leading to the officer taking his life.
The Saturday night incident saw the deceased spray the girl with bullets but luckily, only three bullets hit her thighs.
A witness said the officer, who joined the forces last year, met the girl and fell in love before he suspected the minor was also seeing another officer.
The minor did her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) last year.
The spurned lover visited the girl at an M-Pesa shop she had been employed at and pulled the trigger on her.
He shot at her 19 times but only three bullets hit her.
She was rushed to Naivasha sub-county hospital where sources said she is now in stable condition.
The officer went back to his house where he shot himself dead.
“He officially joined the forces last year after undergoing training and his move to open fire nineteen times shows that he was a man who had an uncontrolled temper and could have done more harm to the community,”
Naivasha police boss Samuel Waweru said.
Residents lamented that police officers meant to ensure law and order were breaking the same law by dating a minor.
