A Jubilee lawmaker has endorsed Internal Security Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i for the presidential seat come the 2022 general elections.
In an interview with the People Daily on Sunday, Nakuru Town West parliamentarian Samuel Arama said that Matiang'i is best suited to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who is headed for retirement after the 2022 polls.
He added that Kenyans will be killing two birds using one stone in electing him, judging by his track record since his first nomination into Uhuru's cabinet in 2013.
"By voting for Matiang’i, Kenyans will be killing two birds with one stone. They will end the dominance by the three big tribes witnessed in past elections and also get a strong personality who will bring change," he said.
According to Arama, Matiang'i will as well shift the political arena from the three communities it has been seen to revolve around, as he comes from the minority Kisii group.
“By voting for Matiang’i, Kenyans will be killing two birds with one stone. They will end the dominance by the three big tribes witnessed in past elections and also get a strong personality who will bring change,” he added.
This comes barely a week after Matiang'i was promoted to senior Minister by Uhuru, and will henceforth supervise his counterparts and report directly to the Head of State.
