When Leyla Mohammed was growing up in Naivasha, little did she know that she would one day capture the nation’s attention with her magical voice.
But on Mashujaa Day celebrations at the Bhukhungu stadium, her soft, sweet voice stole the show as she sang a rendition of ‘Wimbo wa Historia’.
As she sang, VIP guests led by President Uhuru Kenyatta were moved by her superb vocals.
Immediately she was through, she was whisked to the presidential dais where the Head of State had a chat with her.
Leyla is a 13-year-old pupil at St. Teresa’s Girls Primary School in Eastleigh, Nairobi. Her single mother moved to Nairobi where she is struggling to raise the girl.
The girl’s talent was discovered by DJ Pinye with whom she did a song he wanted.
After her beautiful rendition was uploaded on YouTube, Leyla became an instant sensation.
