Machakos women representative Joyce Kamene has urged ladies in campus to desist from desiring things above their standards.
Kamene said the recent headlines on murder in institutions of higher learning is quite appalling, adding that an urgent solution should be found.
She observed that if only these girls focused on what took them to school, none of these cases would be reported.
"Parents are investing alot to educate their childrenband it's shocking that some girls want to live beyond their statuses. Having the latest fashion and all manner of luxury," said Kamene.
"They should know that all of those they can achieve them by working hard in school and getting a good job you don't need to depend on a man to achieve your goals, "when added.
She noted that hypocritical relationships have been the hot bed of violence and brutality.
According to her, drug abuse,social media and television programmes could be reasons as to why cases of violence among campus lovers are reported.
"A number of youths are using drugs,social media and some TV programmes have content dueling violence,"she said.
She urged youths to open up to friends, family or religious leaders whenever they are facing hardships in life.
Kamene spoke on Thursday at Kaviani in Kathiani sub county of Machakos county where she had met women groups.
