The drivers while speaking on Monday in Nyamira town accused police officers manning roadblocks for soliciting bribes from them regularly.

"Since Matiang'i took over the Ministry of Interior we have been suffering on the hands of police officers. We are forced to pay huge bribes at roadblocks before we are allowed to pass. Matiang'i has failed to streamline the police boss," said a furious driver Boniface Mose.

Mose threatened that drivers are planning to gang up to attack the corrupt police officers.

Ezekiel Nyabaro, a driver plying Keroka-Nyamira town stated that Matiang'i's failure to transfer the current officers from the region has led to increased corruption.

"Our efforts to have the officers transferred so that new ones can be brought to serve at roadblocks have been ignored by Matiang'i who claims that he is committed to bringing reforms in the police force. It is high time President Uhuru Kenyatta send lazy Matiang'i home," noted Nyabaro.

Nelson Mogaka, a matatu conductor claimed they have been paying between Sh200-2,000 bribe at roadblocks.
