Political analyst Herman Manyora has observed that Deputy President William Ruto's presidential ambitions depend on the union between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

In an interview on Milele FM's 'Kivumbi Show' Wednesday morning, Manyora advised the DP to rally behind the truce between the leaders.

He observed that the DP should not give in to the urge to battle them, now that they appear to be his main hurdle.

Manyora said that Ruto is very unlikely to be the next president should the two unite.

According to him, Ruto should instead tactically retreat or suffer a permanent blow that could kill his presidential ambitions.

"He should not oppose the handshake and should instead remain well within the truce. Should he attempt to oppose them, he will badly lose as they appear to have a wider backing and might never regain his footing.

"Let him stick to them and get a piece of what they are planning if they are indeed having plans for the 2022 elections and from there he can easily ascent to the top seat, he is still very young and has the time," he added.

However, Manyora said that Ruto is likely to do the opposite as a result of his confidence that he has enough support and political muscles to fight his way up.

He based this on Ruto's apparently growing support in some regions of the nation but noted that it is not enough to facilitate his presidency.

"He thinks he has the entire Rift Valley vote, at least a half of Western Kenya and the North Eastern vote through his ally Aden Duale.

"The DP also assumes that he can sweep across Maasai land and proceed to get at least half the national vote. This will finish him," he said.
