Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has called for unity among leaders.

Speaking during a mass at the Redeemed Gospel Church in Huruma estate Nairobi Sunday,Sonko further urged leaders from both sides of the political divide (the ruling Jubilee Party and its opposition counterpart NASA) to preach peace and unity among Kenyans at a time when the country is divided along tribal and ethnic lines.

He accused a section of the political elite of propagating the division as a political strategy urging them to instead lend a hand in creating a amalgamated state.

"As leaders,we must learn other ways of sorting out our differences. We must stop inciting Kenyans against each other and based on political affiliations," he said.

His comments were echoed by the county senator Johnson Sakaja who said that the nation needs each and every Kenyan for its growth and development to be guaranteed.

He urged leaders to put aside their differences, especially now that the political period is over and concentrate their attention on creating a better Kenya

"We have to work together regardless of our political affiliation and lead the way as leaders," said Sakaja.

The two were in company of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto both of whom called for the same.
