Residents of Omosasa village in Keumbu, Nyaribari Chache constituency in Kisii County have raised concern following water shortage in the region.
On Wednesday, the locals claimed that Riomboto Water Spring has dried up despite the heavy rains in the area.
Led by Purity Onditi, the locals have appealed to area MCA Peter Gekanana to intervene.
"We wake up at 6am to line up at Riomboto water spring to fetch water and we usually wait for long. Some of us have not been able to even take shower," she lamented.
Grace Kerubo confirmed that the entire village voted for Gekanana in 2017 but he is doing too little to ensure there is plenty supply of clean water.
"There are no fruits we are enjoying after rallying behind Gekanana. The MCA need to push for the drilling of a borehole in the village to help with plenty supply of water," she stated.
David Arika raised fears that waterborne diseases may break out in the village since locals have opted to use dirty water.
"We are at risk of contracting water borne diseases due to water shortage. The MCA's intervention is needed before the outbreak of waterborne diseases" said Arika.
