On Friday, area politicians were divided along 'Handshake and Tanga Tanga' factions with the latter insisting inclusion of the DP William Ruto in the trip.

But after hours of unity meeting at Governor James Ongwae's house, the two teams agreed to focus on development matters and unity for the sake of progress in the region.

"The most important thing our people want is development. Political factions cannot take us anywhere that why we had to set aside over differences for the sake of the trip," Borabu MP Ben Momanyi said.

His North Mugirango counterpart Joash Nyamoko, a key pointsman of the DP Ruto, also said the trip would solely focus on development, adding that all MPs will show up in solidarity with the president and Raila.

"We many not speak from same script when it comes to politics but that should not affect development. We shall show up and help the president seal his legacy. That's what is important for now."

The president and Raila Odinga are scheduled to tour the vast Gusii region on January 23rd and 24th where he's expected to launch a host of projects as identified by the state.

Governors John Nyagarama and James Ongwae are expected to lead the MPs in the tour thus the strategic meeting that lasted for over five hours in Ongwae's house on Friday.
