Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday held a secretive meeting with 10 leaders from Mt Kenya.
The meeting came four days after President Uhuru Kenyatta warned leaders from the region against engaging in premature campaigns at the expense of development.
Speaking at the Kasarani Stadium during the Akorino annual prayer day, Uhuru said that he will not take it lightly if lawmakers continue traversing the country when they have promises to fulfill.
It has now emerged that 10 MPs from Meru met the second in command. The lawmakers have, however, refused to give a detailed account of the meetig.
The leaders included Senator Mithika Linturi and MPs Rahim Dawood (North Imenti), Moses Kirima (Central Imenti), Kathurima Murungi (South Imenti) and Halima Mucheke (nominated).
The others were John Paul Mwirigi (Igembe South), Kubai Iringo (Igembe Central), Mugambi Rindikiri (Buuri), John Mutunga (Tigania West) and Josphat Gichunge (Tigania East).
According to Mutunga, the leaders discussed development matters just like friends would do. He noted that they addressed issues such as roads, water and electricity.
Mucheke also alluded that the leaders discussed matters of national interest, She also divulged that they pledged to stand with the second in command as she seeks to rise to power.
"Obviously, all those present committed to support him when the time comes."
