Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has laughed off a plot by some MPs to impeach him along with National Assembly speaker Justin Muturi.
Duale says that the impeachment plot will not see the light of the day.
According to Duale, some MPs who were against the Finance Bill are playing dirty politics.
In an interview with a local daily on Monday, Duale said that he is not afraid of the impeachment motion.
“Let them bring it on and I assure them that it will not see the light of the day,” Duale said.
The Garissa Township lawmaker defended himself and Speaker Muturi over allegations of tampering with votes that saw the Finance Bill pass.
Duale says that MPs who opposed the bill failed and they should keep quiet.
“There were no tricks used to pass the bill, we only had the numbers that saw the Bill pass,” he said.
A section of MPs have vowed to initiate Duale and Muturi’s removal on grounds that they allegedly influenced the passing of the Bill.
The MPs led by Matungulu lawmaker Stephen Mule say they will go to court should the impeachment flop.
President Uhuru Kenyatta signed the Finance Bill 2018 into law that imposes an 8% VAT on fuel an petroleum products on Friday last week.
