Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa on Wednesday revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta had picked him as his running mate prior to the 2013 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on KTN, Wamalwa claimed that President Uhuru picked him as his running mate a few months before the polls.
"It is true that I was meant to be Uhuru’s running mate. For now, I’m quiet and performing the mandate given to me by the president," he said.
This comes after Cherangany Member of Parliament Joshua Kutuny during an interview on KTN in February this year, said that the Head of State had actually picked the CS as his running mate.
Kutuny, however, noted that he thwarted the plans and convinced Uhuru to instead pick William Ruto as his running mate.
"I personally thwarted the separate arrangements the two leaders had. I convinced Uhuru not to go to Bungoma. I insisted that he needed to have another meeting with Ruto," said Kutuny.
Wamalwa's revelation has elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans on social media.
