A man beat his wife after he allegedly caught her hugging her ex-boyfriend at Kebirigo shopping center on Monday.
Abel Miruka said he went with his wife, Eunice Moraa to the shopping center when she met her ex-boyfriend and hugged him as he watched 'helplessly'.
"I could not control my temper when I saw my wife hugging the man who used to seduce him before I married her. I beat her up and warned her against repeating the same next time," he said.
"I will never go out with a woman who is after embarrassing me. She has never hugged me but, she can afford to hug another man who is not married to her," he lamented.
Area administrator Peter Achuti confirmed the incident and lauded members of the public who intervened to stop the man from beating his wife.
He warned men against beating their wives saying they should use peaceful means to iron out their differences.
"Violence against women should stop. Any man who will be caught beating his wife will be arrested to face prosecution because assault is an offence which is punishable by law," he said.
The chief also urged women to stop embarrassing their husbands in public to curb unnecessary beatings.
