Speaking on Friday in Seme during the burial of Anyang Nyong'o's mother Dorcas Owino, the Suba South MP said Uhuru should be careful so that he doesn't a thief as his successor.

“I want you, Mr President, to think about the legacy you wish to leave behind with regard to who takes over as your successor. [You must ensure] he carries on with efforts against corruption instead of reversing them," he said as quoted by the Nation.

"Pray with me so that you do not leave us someone who is a thief," he added.

He hailed President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga as statesmen, arguing that their handshake has brought relative stability and legacy in the country.

“I am happy that Raila and Uhuru put aside their differences and shook hands in 2018. You would come to this region and nobody would stop you, but the aura ... the love you have received today wasn’t there. That’s the Kenya we need," said Mbadi.

While addressing the same function, Uhuru warned politicians fronting 2022 politics at the expense of development. He said he will first fix the country before joining the succession politics.

"The time for politics will come. Let's fix Kenya first then play politics. We refuse to be divided; let's continue staying together," the president said.
