Police officers have dismissed claims that Nyamira County Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo's residence was set on fire at Magwagwa village in Nyamira North.
This is after fire broke on Tuesday morning and burnt to death Haron who is Nyaribo's uncle.
Robert Kipsom, are police boss said the house which was reduced down to ashes was yet to be connected with electricity.
"It is not Nyaribo's house that was burnt as claimed. The house which was burnt belongs to his uncle who died during the inferno," he said.
The police boss warned locals against spreading propaganda saying whoever who will be caught will be arrested to face prosecution.
Kipsom lauded Nyamira county fire fighters for responding quickly after they were alerted to put off the fire.
"Fire fighters from Nyamira County responded quickly and managed to put off the fire but, the deceased could not survive because by the time the fire was put off he was already dead," he said.
He said the fire might have been caused by cooking instruments but, investigations have been launched over the same.
The police boss said the body of the deceased was taken to Nyamira County referral hospital mortuary.
