There seems to be serious and dangerous political cold war building in Gusii region involving most elected and non elected leaders.
The political storm is directed to Kisii County Governor James Ongwae and CS Interior and National Government Coordinator Dr Fred Okengo Matiangi.
This started immediately after President Uhuru Kenyatta visit last week who was accompanied by Deputy President and ODM Party leader Raila Odinga.
Gusii Leaders and opinion shapers led by Kisii Senator Prof Sam Ongeri claim that the two leaders mishandled the Presidential visit to their advantage politically.
Allegedly, Dr Matiangi bullyied speech protocol,thus other leaders were denied an opportunity to address the roadside rallies within the Kisii Town CBD.
They claim that while Nyamira leaders led by Governor Nyagarama were given an opportunity to address part of the meetings,some leaders from Kisii County believe that Ongwae ferried hundreds of hecklers who were under instructions to boo any Nyamira leader given an opportunity to address part of the meetings.
This could be the reason why the Nyamira Governor and leaders from Nyamira were booed whenever they addressed the gatherings.
It is alleged that,in Matiangi's thinking,if the politicians were given an opportunity to address the people,they could have embarrassed him before the President and his Deputy by poking holes in the handshake after he had personally assured the two Jubilee leaders about their massive support in Gusii.
It is also alleged that some populist politicians would have taken advantage of their speeches to embarrass the President,his Deputy anand ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga about the referendum.
Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyoka did this at the leaders meeting in Kisii School.
Close allies to the aggrieved parties say that this matter has brought up a lot of acrimony between the elected leaders and the Kisii County boss on one hand and the CS Interior on the other hand.
A section of Nyamira leaders have vowed never to attend any Presidential function in Kisii County in future because some elected leaders and former leaders from Nyamira were embarrassingly denied entry to the Presidential leaders meeting at Kisii High School.
The political leaders' differences with the Kisii Governor and the CS Interior is so tense and some leaders think it may hinder an eminent Presidential visit to Nyamira because key Presidential informers from Gusii Region may have relayed the information to the president.
Legislators from the two Counties have declared total war against Governor Ongwae something which may result into Nyamira County leadership severing their relationship with their sister with claims that Kisii County leaders treat Nyamira as a Sub County of Kisii something they say has been openly expressed by a section of leaders from Kisii.
The vicious cold war between the two Counties is led by West Mugirango Member of Parliament Hon Vincent Kemosi,a first time fiery MP and a Mombasa based lawyer.
Political observers have now focused their attention to this battles between the two Omogusii Counties to see what it will result into.
