The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) in partnership with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and the General Service Unit (GSU) carried out operations at Meli Kubwa near MacKinnon Road along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
In accordance with Section 95 of the Energy Act 2006, it is an offence to transport, store or offer for sale adulterated petroleum products.
The team destroyed several structures that were found storing adulterated fuel sold in the black market.
"The sites that were found to have contravened the regulations as stipulated in the Energy Act 2006 have been demolished," said ERC in an update on Monday.
The commission said adulterated fuel has adverse effects on the economy, public safety, causes excessive engine wear, causes loss of energy through incomplete combustion and also causes air pollution.
