Over the weekend, Jubilee MPs accused Suba South MP John Mbadi and Siaya Senator James Orengo of having asked Uhuru to endorse Raila in Kisumu on Friday.

In a tweet, city lawyer Donald Kipkorir slammed ODM lawmakers, accusing them of being insincere with their demands from the president.

"ODM Politicians should stop being over-excited like primary school kids at lunch hour when they’re in the same rally with Uhuru Kenyatta. Uhuru has said we focus on now and not 2022. Why do you want him to endorse Baba Raila Odinga now? What’s good for the goose is good for the gander," wrote Kipkorir.

While some ODM MPs have been pushing for Raila's presence on the ballot, the former Prime Minister has remained non-committal, only insisting that he's keen to instigate reforms.

On Tuesday, Mr Sifuna denied claims that ODM has been pushing President Kenyatta to openly declare support for Raila ahead of the 2022 polls.

"@DonaldBKipkorir I know for a fact you were not at the funeral at Seme. No one asked Uhuru to endorse Raila. Neither Mbadi nor Orengo even mentioned Raila so you shd be the one to stop getting excited about things you hear in bars," he said.

After Friday's function in Seme, President Uhuru Kenyatta drove with Raila Odinga to Kisumu where they inspected ongoing renovation of the port.
