A key suspect, David Mwai, who died in police cells last week after confessing to having been hired to kill former Garissa Finance Executive Idriss Mukhtar has been buried.
Mwai was buried on Friday at his grandmother's Ngamini village in Nakuru County under tight security.
The deceased burial took less than two hours with only close relatives attending.
Police in plain clothes are said to have kept a close vigil during the burial.
Mwai 27, died at Parklands police station on Thursday last week.
A postmortem by the government pathologist revealed that he had died by hanging.
Detectives had earlier said that Mwai hanged himself in the cells using his pullover.
The deceased was a key suspect in the attempted murdered of Mukhtar.
According to detectives, Mwai had confessed in front of a Judge that he was paid and sent to kill Mukhtar along with his lawyer Charles Kanjama.
He confessed to having pulled the trigger on the former Finance Executive who is now fighting for his life in hospital.
On Thursday, detectives released more shocking revelations with claims that the planners of the attempted assassination had planned to poison Mukhtar and his lawyer using hydrogen peroxide.
Detectives are holding two key suspects Mohamud Hussein Aden and Juliet Njoki who are said to be financiers of the attempted murder plot.
Last week detectives quizzed Garissa Governor Ali Korane over the attempted murder.
Governor Korane has since denied claims of having a hand in Mukhtar’s attempted assassination.
