The Annual Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) convention has kicked-off in Mombasa.
In accordance with the 2018 Mombasa county implementation plan, the annual conference brings together all stakeholders and other partners to learn and share experiences on CVE as well as to strategize on future activities.
Key issues that featured prominently during the 2018 convention are expected to be discussed with the intention of putting the coastal county in a better position to address emerging issues that have a bearing on its safety and security.
About 300 participants from within and out of Mombasa who were involved in the implementation of the action plan and those who want to learn from the experience of Mombasa are expected to attend.
The offices of the Mombasa County Commissioner and the Governor are hosting the annual convention which kicked-off on Wednesday, February 27, through the support of Mombasa civil society organisations and the private sector.
The Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji was present.
The National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), which is currently in the process of reviewing the National Strategy for Countering Violent Extremism (NSCVE), will be expected to play a key role of facilitating learning at the annual convention.
