It was shame for Nakuru county government Thursday morning as reports emerged that street kids from the Nakuru Town’s CBD were on Wednesday night rounded up and transported to Baringo.
In Baringo, the kids were dumped in a forest and left for the chilling cold.
Baringo residents woke up to the shocking revelation as the kids roamed nearby villages in the morning asking for help.
The reports saw a storm on Nakuru social media pages as residents wondered who was behind the inhuman move.
By 5 pm on Thursday, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui was still mum on the issue despite condemnation.
“How myopic can the Nakuru county government be if this is the way to deal with street families?” John Kiragu posted.
Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika described the act as barbaric.
“This is barbaric, heartless, inhuman and should never happen in a civilized society. It's such a sad state of affairs if this is how the county Executive chose to deal with the street children challenge,” Kihika said.
In Baringo, authorities took the children to Eldama Ravine Town Hall where they were fed them breads and sodas before transporting them back to Nakuru.
