Two people have died after a motorbike collided head-on with a matatu at Keumbu in Nyaribari Chache Constituency in Kisii County.
The accident occurred on Monday evening along the Keumbu-Kisii road.
Confirming the incident, Ibeno Location Chief Christopher Onwong'a said the two people who lost their lives following the accident were male.
The chief noted that the two victims were riding on the motorbike at high speed.
"The accident occurred at 6pm several meters away from Keumbu market. Two men who were riding on a motorbike from Keumbu market collided head-on with a matatu which was heading to Keumbu," said the chief.
The administrator said members of the public rushed to the scene to rescue those who were involved in the accident.
Onwong'a further noted that the two men were taken to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for emergency treatment but died on arrival.
"The men could not survive the injuries they sustained. Passengers who were in the matatu sustained minor injuries and they were discharged after receiving treatment at Keumbu Hospital," he added.
The chief appealed to motorists to be careful as the region is experiencing heavy downfall which is causing the roads to be slippery.
