Governor John Nyagarama must now equip himself with sophisticated answers and evidence when he visits Senate in future for grilling, Senator Okong'o Mogeni has warned.
For years now, Nyagarama's administration has been immersed in several graft scandals, nepotism and maladministration, allegations that have left Mogeni fighting incompetence accusations over his oversight role.
On Saturday at Kiabonyoru ward, Mogeni hinted a looming showdown between him and Nyagarama, questioning the county government's service delivery.
The renowned Senior Counsel said he's alert and will demand the list of over 1,000 employees who were purportedly removed from the payroll.
"I am very alert and waiting to pounce on him. When he comes to the Senate, he must produce the list of those who were removed from the payroll. We must ascertain if indeed they were struct off," he said.
The former Law Society of Kenya president said those who have been drawing salaries without working must be ready to return the money.
"The governor must produce payment figures and oversee repayment of the money. We must also know the number of those getting salaries without working. He will see what I am made of," he added.
In April, Governor Nyagarama formed a payroll audit committee which has reportedly removed people believed to have been employed illegally. The committee is now working on taming those who were promoted irregularly.
The governor has often defended himself against corruption allegations, arguing that he has never been involved in any scandal.
"I am clean. Those spreading propaganda on money loss should first give evidence. We may be having weaknesses but on stealing, count me out," he once said.
