Ex-President Mwai Kibaki’s family is set to invest millions of shillings of their wealth to set up a mini-city in Nakuru.
Nakuru, being the fast-rising town it is becoming, has become a favourite choice for investors and the Kibaki family seems not ready to be left out.
According to the Business Daily, the family will set up a multi-billion-shilling hotel near the Menengai Crater.
The strategy is to cash in on the tourists who visit the place of many gods. (Menengai).
“Regulatory filings indicate the project by the Kibaki family’s company Gingalili (1968) Ltd will occupy 692 acres next to the crater where a 100MW geothermal field is under development,” a report that appears in the Business Daily says.
The National Environment Management Authority (Nema) has already invited the public to file submissions on the multi-billion investment.
“Nema invites members of the public to submit oral and written submissions within 30 days to assist the authority in the decision-making process for this project,” Nema said in a notice.
According to the paper, the investment will be a major money-making business.
“Gingalili plans to build a mini-city that will include educational institutions, low, medium and high-income residential units as well as a commercial centre on both sides of the Nyahururu-Nakuru Road that cuts through the property,” the paper said.
