Four people died on Saturday evening after they were struck by lightning, while sheltering from heavy rains outside a house in Piave, Njoro, Nakuru County.
Njoro sub-county police commander Mohammed Huka confirmed the incident, adding that one person suffered serious injuries.
The survivor, a woman, was in the company of four men, when lightning struck them.
Huka said the woman who suffered serious injuries, was rushed to Nakuru Level Five Hospital in critical condition.
“The victims were struck outside a house as they waited for the rains to subside,” said the police commander as quoted by Nation.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Nakuru County Hospital mortuary.
Huka has urged residents to be cautious when there is a heavy downpour, and stay indoors to avoid loss of lives.
Heavy rains were experienced in most parts of Nakuru town, and its environs, as the weatherman had appealed to residents to heed warning of the floods and move to safer grounds.
The heavy rainfall grounded activities in most parts, with residential areas among those most affected by the evening downpour.
