Kenyan netizens have put controversial singer Alex Apoko alias Ringtone on the spot after an Instagram post with grammatical mistakes.
Ringtone had taken to Instagram to inform his fans that he had been arrested. Netizens, however, quickly made fun of his English under #RingtoneArrested.
“PRAYERS PLEASE🙏🙏🙏Is it crime to look for wife???? Why are police arrested me while am leave @cooperativeuniversity Karen. THEY MUST RELEASE ME. Eti am prostituting and causing confusion (sic),” Ringtone posted.
The ‘Tenda Wema’ singer who was arrested on Monday at the entrance of Cooperative University for causing confusion but was later released.
Nonetheless, Kenyans online could not let go of the grammatical mistakes in Ringtone’s post pass. In fact, a good number of the netizens focused more on the grammatical errors than the message in the post.
Ringtone seemed to have a problem with structuring the verbs in his sentences into appropriate tenses. He used the present continuous and past tenses wrong.
Ringtone has in recent days been the topic of discussion on social media after he went on the streets with a placard to search for a wife.
