While releasing the results, the CS noted great improvement in terms of performance as compared to 2017.

Amina revealed that there was no leakage of the exam as the case has been in previous years.

"We have seen great improvement in the 2018 KCSE results compared to 2017 and there were zero cases of exam leakage," Amina said.

Juliet Otieno from Pangani Girls High school topped in the exam, scoring an A plain of 87.664 points.

As top candidates celebrate exemplary performance, the case is not the same in Ukambani region.

Giant Ukambani schools failed to impress in the 2018 KCSE results.

Ukambani candidates failed to feature in the list of top 100 performers nationally.

In the top 100 performers list produced by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC),  there is no candidate from the Ukambani region that has in the past boasted of exemplary performance.

It was expected that giant schools like Machakos Boys, Machakos Girls, St Charles Lwanga, Makueni Boys, Alim Boys, Precious Blood Kilungu and Muthale Girls would produce candidates in the top 100 list nationally.

These schools have in the past registered good performance.

Over 600,000 candidates sat the KCSE exams in November.

Amina said the results of only 100 candidates were canceled.

The CS revealed that several teachers who were caught in cheating syndicates have been interdicted and arraigned in court.
