Boys from a mixed school have gone on rampage for being separated from girls in Mwala, Machakos County.
The students from Bishop Ndingi School protested for being separated from girls during an entertainment session at the institution on Saturday.
They claimed that the school's administration does not only separate them with girls during entertainment time but also while taking their meals.
The rowdy boys broke window panes of their dormitories and left the school at around 5.00 am on the fateful morning.
They lamented that they are not allowed to mingle with the girls at all.
The protesters claimed that they were not involved before the school's administration reached the decision to separate them from the girls.
Police intercepted the boys who were walking towards Mwala shopping centre, they dispersed.
Mwala deputy county commissioner Aphaxard Gitonga said the students were consulted before the decision to separate them with the girls was reached.
Gitonga said the students had agreed to the terms.
According to Gitonga, the directive was meant to keep the girls stay safe in the institution.
The school has a population of 320 students; 120 boys and 200 girls.
