Amani National Congress party may wait a little bit longer before parting ways with nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi, Political Parties Dispute Tribunal has ruled.
On Friday, Osotsi was given the temporary reprieve, a move that will allow him to battle for his future by facing his party at the tribunal, hoping to rescue his dwindling fortunes.
"The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) has issued conservatory orders staying the decision of my purported expulsion from ANC party," he broke the news on his Twitter handle.
"It has further stayed the decision of the registrar of political parties to delete my membership of ANC party, until the matter presented before it is heard and determined," he added.
So vicious has been his war with ANC, that the party official struct him off it's register after a National Executive Council meeting last month. His efforts to reclaim Secretary General position were also dealt a blow by a court sitting in Nairobi.
He's accused of swindling close to Sh50 million without the knowledge of the party days to 2017 polls. Early this week, Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu confirmed Osotsi's ouster.
"Once you confirm that the right process was followed, you act. That is what we are required to do so that the rights of an individual or the party constitution are not violated," Ms Nderitu said.
In a rejoinder, Osotsi, an IT expert, dismissed his purported ouster, adding that he had not been served formally. He also claimed that he recruited most of senior party members when they were stranded.
"When 13 parties were being collapsed to form Jubilee, UDF was one of the parties that was dissolved. Mudavadi had no party at the time and I invited him into ANC," Mr Osotsi said in Vihiga recently.
