Young Pillars Association, a lobby group associated with Deputy President William Ruto, has read 'malice' in President Uhuru Kenyatta's decision to appoint Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i as 'Chief Minister'.
Through a circular made public on Tuesday, Matiang'i was appointed to head powerful National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee, whose duties, among others, will be supervising, guiding, monitoring and communicating projects.

"As YPA, we are worried on the unfolding events since the handshake was initiated. As much as we support unity, we want honest leadership where the players are subjected to a fair game."
Further, it read: "Undermining of DP Ruto through sidelining him from national issues must stop henceforth. Let us be genuine in the implementation of peace deal. Elbowing him out through funny appointments won't change anything."
Matiang'i's appointment was received with excitement at his Nyamira backyard with a number of people commending him for the surprise elevation as monitor of government projects.
YPA, whose main mandate would be to lobby for Ruto ahead of 2022, will be launched formally in February. already, the team is spreading wings across the country and mainly constitutes of youthful people.
