Police in Elgeyo Marakwet County are holding a man accused of killing both his wife and a biological child.
The man reportedly committed the double murder at their home in Satano, Keiyo South constituency on Friday.
The incident was confirmed by Soi Member of County Assembly (MCA) Jonah Tanui.
Tanui said the man resorted to hacking the two following a domestic squabble with his 22-year old wife.
He said the suspect, 25, also hacked his 2-year old child to death using a machete.
"Police rescued the culprit from irate villagers who wanted to take the law into their own hands by lynching him," Tanui said.
Tanui said police dispersed the crowd that had gathered at the scene of the incident.
He called upon families to embrace civilized modes of conflicts resolution to prevent re-occurrence of such incidents.
