Deputy President William Ruto has deleted a tweet in which he had accused leaders propagating 'injili ya shetani' (the devil's gospel) of being behind his troubles.
Among the troubles he pointed out is an opinion poll in which he was ranked the most corrupt leader in Kenya.
According to the poll, the DP ranked top among leaders Kenyans think are the most corrupt in the country.
Ruto was ranked number one corrupt public figure with 33 percent of the 2,016 Kenyans interviewed saying he is corrupt. Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru came second at 31 percent.
"Those running 'injili ya shetani' that unless your father was a minister, a vice president or a president, however much you work you must remain poor and if not a pauper you must be corrupt and have stolen, they should know that those without godfathers we have God the father. Shindwe," the DP had said in the tweet.
But less that 24 hours after posting the message on his official Twitter account, he deleted the post that elicited a lot of reaction from members of the public who asked him why he had posted such an inflammatory message if he actually knew that he was not corrupt as alleged.
