The speaker declared the seat vacant following the Supreme Court's ruling that nullified Mohamed Kolosh election.

The apex court nullified the MP's election on grounds that it was not free and fair.

Muturi in a gazette notice last  Friday directed the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Court (IEBC) to conduct by-election within 90 days.

"Whereas a vacancy has risen in the office of a Member of Parliament in respect of the above-mentioned constituency, now therefore in pursuance of the provisions of Section 16 (3) of the Election Act, 2011, I command you (IEBC) to announce and conduct by-election according to law of a Member to serve in National Assembly for the said constituency, ” Muturi said.

Abdirahman Ibrahim Mohamed petitioned the Wajir West election.

The KANU politician is among candidates expected to contest in the by-election.

On the other hand, Kolosh has exuded confidence of retaining the seat in the by-election.

The ODM politician has urged his supporters to remain calm.
