Cabinet Secretaries are sleeping on the job, Murang’a Senator Irungu Kangata and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro have claimed.
Senator Kangata, who spoke at Gathinja Secondary School after delivering Sh2.5 million to the institution from President Uhuru Kenyatta, said that the CSs have performed poorly in the recent past.
He argued that the laxity of the Cabinet Secretaries has created the mentality that President Kenyatta, who is completing his second and final term in government, has neglected residents of Mt Kenya region.
The senator affirmed that Uhuru, who has reiterated his stand in the war against corruption, has initiated different projects in the region.
His remarks came after a section of leaders claimed that Uhuru has not done much for his people after he agreed to work with Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga in the famous handshake.
“Cabinet Secretaries should always be on the ground to launch projects, but they pretend to be too busy and this has created the notion that the President has forsaken Mt Kenya region,” the senator said, as quoted by Daily Nation.
He also faulted Education CS George Magoha for allegedly refusing to preside over the presentation of the cheques to the school. He said the process of selecting CSs in different offices has promoted laxity.
On his part, Nyoro said Uhuru has proven that he has the desire to help all Kenyans including those from Mt Kenya.
“The President is working but his team is failing him,” Mr Nyoro said.
Uhuru has also told off leaders claiming he has neglected the region.
