Women in Ibeno ward, Nyaribari Chache in Kisii County have threatened to strip naked and walk in public due to poor roads in the area.
The women led by Mary Nyamwamu claimed that Governor James Ongwae has failed to upgrade feeder roads in the area despite him promising to do so during the 2017 campaigns.
Mrs. Nyamwamu argued that women are the most hit by the impassable roads in the region.
"Pregnant women are suffering especially when being taken to hospital to visit clinics and deliver babies because of the deplorable state of roads in Ibeno. Ongwae has lied to us several times and as women, we are planning to strip and walk naked to push him to act and improve our roads," she stated.
Angered Nyamwamu who is in her 60s said poor roads have forced boda boda riders to double fares.
"Riders are overcharging poor women going to the market to sell their products because of poor roads. Once we will strip naked I'm sure Ongwae will be ashamed to allocate funds to upgrade roads in Ibeno to ease transportation of people and agricultural products for sale at various markets," she stated.
