The High Court sitting in Nairobi Nairobi has declined to review bail terms for murder suspect Joseph Irungu alias Jowie.
On Tuesday, High court Judge James Wakiaga dismissed Jowie’s bail review application, noting that it was premature.
Justice Wakiaga in his ruling also said that the application lacked merit.
The prosecution led by Senior Assistant Director of Public prosecutions Catherine Mwaniki had opposed Jowie’s application.
The prosecution said there were no new grounds tendered by the accused person to compel the court to review his bail terms.
Jowie applied for review of his bail terms arguing that circumstances in his case had changed for the period he has been behind bars.
Through his lawyer David Ayuo, he maintained his innocence stating that he was ready to cooperate if granted bail.
He added that his family was ready to bail him out and he would help investigators unravel the persons behind Monica’s gruesome murder.
Jowie is charged with the murder of slain Nairobi businesswoman Monica Kimani.
He is charged alongside TV journalist Jackie Maribe. The TV journalist is, however, out on Sh1 Million bail.
While granting Maribe bail, the court directed her not to read news during the period the case is fixed for hearing.
