This is after months of dalliance with the Deputy Head of State.

Baya has been among the Coast leaders hailing from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party who have been seen dancing to Ruto's tune lately.

However, the MP now says that he remains a strong member of the Orange party, claiming that he was only with the DP in pursuit of development for his people.

“I have cooperated with DP Ruto in line with the handshake between President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga. I have worked with the DP because he is my friend. I have worked closely with various leaders for the sake of development,” Baya was quoted by the Standard.

This comes months after his Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori reaffirmed his support for the party, after months of dalliance with Ruto.

Dori, who was set for disciplinary actions alongside his Malindi counterpart Aisha Jumwa, another rebel, was let off the hook, while Jumwa was expelled over disloyalty to the party.
