The second term governor will now have to clear his name over murder charges, having been directly linked with the death of Sharon Otieno, his lover.

Even after insisting that he was in Nairobi during the fateful day, detectives traced his phone to Kodera forest, where Sharon's mutilated body was retrieved.

With detectives now looking for a witness to unearth the mystery, Jackson Gombe, a taxi driver, is said to have conceded that indeed the governor was at the crime scene.

Fearing a possible death sentence, the standard reports, Gombe further said that Obado's aides did not inform him about plans to abduct the slain student and journalist Barack Oduor using the car he was driving.

Also giving possible clue of Obado's involvement is Caspal Obiero, a clerk in Migori County, whose Toyota Fielder was used in the abductions.

With the car's movement traced at Kodera, Obiero, it has been established, was also in constant communication with the governor. His car has become an epicenter of investigations thus throwing the governor into an awkward position.

And to wrap up all that, prime suspect Michael Oyamo, a PA to Mr. Obado, was in contact with the govenor.

Just like Obado, his phone was also traced in Homa Bay thus directly implicating his boss.

Mr. Obado, Oyamo, bodyguard Elvis Omondi and Obiero are facing murder charges will the taxi driver could be spared for lesser charges.

The governor has conceded that the deceased student was his lover though dismissed claims that he plotted for her murder.
