Yawning is natural and we've all yawned again and again. While the exact cause(s) of yawning is not known, elcrema.com explains some of the possible reasons why we yawn;
1. Yawning cools down the brain
When we yawn, the sinus walls of the brain expand and relax. As this happens, air is pumped into the brain which in turn brings a cooling effect.
When you yawn a lot, it might, therefore, mean your brain's temperature is high and needs cooling.
2. You might be lacking enough sleep
This is always the common reason people provide. It is true that when you are sleepy, you tend to yawn a lot.
It, therefore, means that sometimes your body sends you signals to go to sleep by simply making you yawn.
3. You are bored
Elcrema.com again explains that sometimes we yawn when we are bored.
When we watch boring movies or do boring jobs, we tend to yawn within close intervals.
4. You are tired/fatigued
When we are feeling tired and drowsy, we tend to yawn a lot.
Yawning therefore only confirms to us that we are really tired and need rest.
5. Yawning comes when you are hungry
Hunger has also been linked with yawning because almost everybody yawns whenever hunger knocks.
Mostly, when we stay hungry for long, we yawn again and again until we find food.
