According to locals, the deceased Edinah Muganda was not sick neither did she complain of any health problem.

"I was with her when we attended a funeral at her neighbour's homestead on Tuesday. She was well and did complain about any health difficulties. I am shocked that she died," said Justine Kebati.

Justine Orori linked Edinah's death to witchcraft.

"Witches should give us a break. Why kill an innocent, hard-working woman who is dedicated to providing for her family. It is time we team up to lynch witches," said Orori.

Richard Muganda, the deceased husband said his wife returned from a funeral, collapsed and died in their sitting room.

"Witches who caused my wife's death will not know peace. My tears will not go for free. Let my wife rest in peace," said husband who is now a widower.

Area chief Edward Mamwacha said it is a shocking death to villagers.

"Villagers practising witchcraft must stop before they are caught up. Whoever caused Edinah's death should surrender before he or she is apprehended as investigations have commenced to establish what happened," he noted.

The administrator said the deceased body was taken to Kisii Teaching and referral hospital morgue.
